Albert Kahn map tops 600 buildings

• The expanded map offers a comprehensive way to see the breadth of his work — from local landmarks to buildings around the world.

State of play: The Albert Kahn Legacy Foundation says the map now includes more than 600 Kahn-designed structures built between 1895 and 1950, along with hundreds of newly added images and historical details.

• Buildings are grouped into 15 categories, including industrial and automotive sites, skyscrapers, civic and educational buildings, lost landmarks and walking tours.
• The map stretches well beyond Detroit, featuring Kahn projects as far away as Russia.

Zoom in: Kahn's best-known Detroit works include the Fisher Building in New Center and Cadillac Place, originally built as General Motors' headquarters.

The bottom line: The collection shows just how prolific Kahn was, spanning factories, homes, offices, schools and government buildings.
