Archdiocese moves closer to parish restructuring

The latest: Draft models released across all 15 planning areas identify nearly 90 unique parishes that could lose regular weekend Masses under at least one proposal.

• But archdiocese spokesperson Holly Fournier tells Axios that figure reflects parishes appearing across 47 separate draft models — not the number that would lose weekend Masses under any single restructuring plan.

"We anticipate the final plan will likely involve fewer parishes than that figure," Fournier says.

• "The models presented at the listening sessions are drafts, not final decisions. The purpose of sharing them was to generate the kind of feedback and dialogue that will help shape the final outcome."

What's next: Parishioners can continue submitting feedback through an online survey that remains open through July 31.

• Archbishop Edward Weisenburger said in a recent video message that the archdiocese expects to announce final plans in April 2027, with implementation beginning July 1, 2027.
