With June comes Pride Month, a time when many people celebrate LGBTQ+ communities and honor their history.
Here's some ideas for what to do in Michigan — and note that allies are welcome at many Pride events.
Motor City Pride: Michigan's biggest Pride Month celebration runs 1-9pm Saturday and 12:30-7pm Sunday at Hart Plaza, with tickets $5.99 each. The parade kicks off downtown at noon Sunday.
- Expect hundreds of vendors, international food options, an LGBTQ+ history exhibit and four stages with music and drag performers.
Village Pride: Saturday, 2-8pm. Celebrate in West Village and Indian Village with DJs, a fashion show and vendors. Free to attend!
People's Pride Potluck: June 13, 3pm in Palmer Park. Join an open mic, kids' activities and potluck-style meal while learning about "the many fights for justice and liberation."
Warren City Pride: June 13, noon-6pm. A fully family-oriented Pride with vendors and entertainment on the Warren Civic Library lawn.
Pride with MiSide: June 16, 4-6pm at El Mercado, 2826 Bagley St. Celebrate with drag performances, music, food, dancing and resource providers.
Get Your Detroit Queer History Straight: June 18, 6-8pm. Learn about the city's rich LGBTQ+ history at Gigi's, Detroit's oldest gay-owned and operated bar. Tickets $7.18.
Juneteenth Jamz: June 19, 8:30-11:30pm. This all-Black, all-queer burlesque festival features both local and traveling performers. Tickets $15-20.
Grosse Pointe Pride: June 20, 10am-12:30pm. Expect a march, music, children's activities, storytelling with drag performances and more.
Queer Coded: June 26, 8-10pm. See burlesque, drag performers and live music at Planet Ant in Hamtramck. Tickets $23.18.
Lansing Pride: June 27, 1-9pm in Old Town. Free to attend!
- Live entertainment, vendors, food and drag performances with headliner Trinity the Tuck of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars.
Pride March: June 28, 1pm. Join the Detroit Anti-War Committee and others for a politically-minded protest at Cass Park.
Hotter Than July: The long-running Black LGBTQ+ Pride celebration returns July 23-26 for its 31st year with a film festival, live performances and more.
Royal Oak Pride: July 25, 1-11pm. Food trucks, 75 vendors, a queer author panel, fashion show and drag performances. Tickets $7.18.
Ann Arbor Pride: Aug. 1, noon-9pm downtown. Celebrate with food, vendors, drag performers and more.
