Gas prices ease in Metro Detroit

Metro Detroiters are seeing a slight dip from last month's gas price spike, though prices remain elevated.
The latest: The region's average regular unleaded gas price was about $4.30 as of Tuesday morning, per GasBuddy data.
- That's a steep, nearly 26-cent drop from last week's average of $4.55, and down 39 cents from a month ago.
- It's still up $1.09 from last June 1.
Yes, but: The relief at the pump may be short-lived, GasBuddy's head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan wrote Monday on X.
What they're saying: "Much of the decline was driven by falling oil prices and the unwinding of recent price cycles, as growing optimism surrounding a potential U.S.-Iran agreement helped ease concerns over global oil supplies," De Haan wrote.
- However, he added, oil prices ticked up Sunday night amid uncertainty over a potential agreement and recently renewed Israeli attacks.
- "Overall, any setback in negotiations could quickly reverse the recent decline in fuel prices."
