👋 Annalise here, after a deeply satisfying lunch from the Oakland Mall food court.
The vibe: Bokoba Mexican Cuisine, which has gotten some attention online for its birria taco pizza and churro desserts, is a colorful stall tucked in a corner by a Panda Express.
The mall location is its only one, per its website, which describes it as all halal and a "hidden gem" (we agree).
Dig in: The combos are a good lunch deal, coming in at $12-$15 for gorditas, tamales, tacos or a torta with beans, rice, chips, salsa and a drink. If you're less hungry, one taco, rice, chips and salsa is $8.
My gordita combo was delicious but messy — maybe eat it in the mall, instead of in your car like me.
