Cavs crush Pistons in season-ending Game 7

The Pistons' season ended Sunday in a 125-94 beating from the Cavs in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals at Little Caesars Arena.

Why it matters: The lopsided loss showed how far Detroit has to go before they reach true NBA championship contender status.

Between the lines: The Pistons trailed by double digits most of the game. They couldn't stop Cleveland's inside game — Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley combined for 44 points for the Cavs.

State of play: Detroit's offense was putrid. Cade Cunningham finished with 13 points. The team's leading scorer was Daniss Jenkins with 17.

The bottom line: The Pistons gained valuable playoff experience but they clearly need more offensive firepower to reach the next level.
