Things to do in Metro Detroit this weekend: March 6-8

🎥 The Farmington Film Festival, featuring the Detroit documentary "Resurgo" and other films, is Thursday through Sunday at the Farmington Civic Theater.

Tickets: $55 for an early bird festival pass; $10 for individual screenings.

🍔 Checker Bar is back. The classic downtown bar reopened Wednesday after a fire forced it to close a year ago. Stop by, grab a burger and check out the restoration.

Open 11am-1am daily.

🎸 The 2026 Hamtramck Blowout takes over venues across the city from Thursday to Saturday with live music spanning punk, indie, hip-hop and more.

🏕️ Summer road trips, anyone? The Ultimate RV Show returns to Huntington Place with more than 200 new and used RVs.

👁️ "The Handmaid's Tale" plays at the Detroit Opera House Thursday and Saturday with a stage adaptation of Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel.

🗡️ "The Outsiders," a musical production following Ponyboy and the Greasers, rolls into the Fisher Theatre, with shows throughout the weekend.

🎼 "The Sound of Music" hits the Fox Theatre with a fresh touring production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic.

🥅 The Red Wings host the Florida Panthers, two-time defending Stanley Cup champions, at 7pm Friday at Little Caesars Arena.
