Black History Month weekend events in Metro Detroit

• 7:30pm Friday and Saturday.
• Tickets: $17.85 for students and adults 62 and up, $33.85 general admission.

Detroit Institute of Arts: Black History Month activities run through the weekend, including Neighborhood Collage, a drop-in workshop, and a musical performance at 7pm Friday by ELEW.

• Museum admission is free for tri-county residents. $20 for non-resident adults.

Detroit Historical Museum: As part of its On the Shoulders of Giants program, the museum is hosting an intergenerational discussion highlighting young people's perspectives on African American history.

• 1-3pm Saturday. Free with museum admission, which is up to $15 for adults.

Detroit Public Library: Branches across the city have events on tap this weekend that are centered on topics such as Ghanaian Adinkra symbols, the old Detroit's numbers racket and the city's labor movement.
