Tigers cut ties with FanDuel Sports Network

The Tigers and eight other MLB teams televised by the FanDuel Sports Network have terminated their contracts with the broadcast provider, The Athletic reports.

Why it matters: A new broadcasting deal could change the way Tigers fans watch games.

Case in point: YouTubeTV doesn't carry FanDuel SN, so subscribers have had to pony up for another streaming service or forgo watching the Tigers (and Pistons and Red Wings) at home.

Between the lines: Terminating the contracts provides the teams with flexibility should FanDuel SN's parent company, Main Street Sports Group, file for bankruptcy.

What's next: Detroit and the other teams that terminated their contracts could return on renegotiated deals or move to MLB Media, per The Athletic.
