I want a lawn that doesn't make me cringe

I bought my house in Ferndale almost four years ago, but I still feel like a new homeowner when it comes to yard care.

Why it matters: I want to be proud of my lawn, but it's been a patchy, weed-pocked mess under my stewardship.

I'm sure my house would be worth a little more if I took better care of it — so I'm making that one of my 2026 goals.

State of play: I'm looking for a healthier lawn, unwanted plants cleared away and new areas along the perimeter for basic flowers, herbs or vegetables.

The intrigue: I'm hoping to use the next several weeks to do some research and come up with a plan of attack once the weather warms.
