Jennifer Gilbert is displaying her private art collection for the first time.
The big picture: Gilbert is a well-known philanthropic leader and founder of the Pophouse interior design firm.
- She and husband Dan Gilbert also co-founded the Gilbert Family Foundation, recently filing for divorce after 30 years of marriage.
Zoom in: The exhibition, "Seen/Scene," focuses on portraits depicting a wide variety of human experiences. It features 36 contemporary artists' work.
- The work was selected and curated by Laura Mott of the Cranbrook Art Museum and artist Nick Cave, who created a two-story virtual reality sculpture piece for the show.
- It's a draft of a yet-to-come brass monument that asks: "Who do we see? Who is revered and who is invisible in our civic spaces?"
Plus: Other artists on display include Allie McGhee, Tiff Massey and Akea Brionne.
