Dozens of indie book and magazine creators are coming together for the Detroit Art Book Fair.
Why it matters: The free event makes space for non-mainstream publishers, artists and writers. It's a place to spot unique designs, prints and perspectives.
Flashback: The fair started more than a decade ago, inspired by art book fairs in other cities.
A Knight Foundation blog post described the 2015 event as a place "where dialogue was certainly flowing as art enthusiasts and bibliophiles gathered in droves for creative and fiscal exchanges with a range of booksellers."
If you go: Noon-6pm Saturday, Oct. 11 and noon-4pm Sunday, Oct. 12.
