👋 Joe here. I've known about Ferndale's Balkan House for years, but I just discovered this week that the European-style cafe serves breakfast, too.
Driving the news: Balkan House just closed its original Hamtramck location. At the same time, it expanded its Ferndale hours to 10am-10pm daily at 314 W. Nine Mile Road.
The intrigue: The Free Press' coverage of the closure brought attention to the Ferndale menu's breakfast wrap, with Balkan House's signature cevapi sausage, eggs, cheese and grilled onions.
The verdict: It's a unique twist on a breakfast wrap without too much fuss.
The cevapi's onion and garlic seasonings are prominent and the housemade roasted pepper sauce on the side adds a nice, sweet complementary flavor.
A little pricey ($15), but surely big enough for two.
