The six-month construction work cluttering Capitol Park is done, revealing the full breadth of the downtown square's renovation.
Driving the news: The park now has a larger lawn, more gardens and trees, a renovated dog park and better lighting, the Downtown Detroit Partnership announced yesterday.
The intention was to make Capitol Park more of a gathering space.
Funding came from federal pandemic dollars, the Downtown Development Authority and the Knight and Kresge foundations.
What's next: New programming in the park starts tomorrow with 11am Pilates in the Park, followed by 7pm community yoga on Sunday.
