There's something special about a restaurant that combines great outdoor patio vibes with unique, delicious food.
Why it matters: Here in Detroit, we only have so many months to sit comfortably outdoors for two hours straight, so let's make this spring and summer count.
Supergeil: Take in the scene of ever-changing Corktown from Supergeil's patio on Michigan Avenue. Sit among murals and colorful furniture while browsing a unique and tasty seasonal menu influenced by Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and northern Africa.
- Don't miss the eggplant doner sandwich ($15), a brightly flavored veggie option that will leave you stuffed.
- Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, noon-10pm; Friday and Saturday, noon-11pm; and Sunday, 11am-8pm.
La Dolce Vita: This patio is a greenery-filled oasis once good weather strikes. Pair a sparkling wine or Aperol spritz and pasta with a breezy evening and post-dinner walk in Palmer Park. What more could you ask for?
- Or, try a decadent Sunday brunch, with lobster Benedict, fruit crepes or French toast filled with mascarpone.
- Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 4:30-10pm; Friday and Saturday, 4:30-10:30pm; Sunday noon-2:30pm for brunch and 5-8:30pm for dinner.
Bert's: No list of great outdoor vibes combined with sublime food would be complete without a mention of Bert's. It's summer personified. Smell the delightfully seasoned grilled meats from blocks away, take in live music and people watch Eastern Market shoppers across the street on the weekends.
- Hours: Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, 11am-10pm; 11am-11pm Friday and Saturday.

Pie Sci: This Woodbridge pizza spot brings the changing of the seasons home, combining a new spring menu with chill vibes on a back patio.
- There may not be a beautiful view, but sitting on a bench in a plant-filled city backyard is all the Zen you need to focus on the crunchy Detroit-style crust.
- We recommend Pie Sci's Detroit style over its round pizza and urge the adventurous among you to try their breakfast pizza.
- And you can't take yourself too seriously when you're ordering pizza with a name like "Panic! At the Pesto" or "Girls Just Wanna Have Fungi."
- Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11am-9pm; Friday and Saturday, 11am-10pm.
Honorable mentions: Parc, for its view from bustling Campus Martius; Summertown in Corktown for a spot to sip smoothies on a patio; Andrew's on the Corner for bar fare near the Detroit River; and Woodward Avenue Bar and Grille for fun food and drinks along Woodward.
