Immigrants and their culinary traditions are crucial to Metro Detroit's dining scene — a fact underscored in the Free Press' latest annual list of the region's best restaurants, the publication's food critic, Lyndsay C. Green, writes.
The big picture: This week, the Freep is crowning its top 10 new restaurants and dining experiences, as well as its Restaurant of the Year.
At least half of them are led by people from immigrant families.

What's next: The Freep's Restaurant of the Year honoree will be announced today and Restaurant of the Year Classic, honoring a longtime restaurant, will be announced Thursday.
