Photography showcase in Midtown explores artists' inner selves

A 70-portrait immersive showcase by visual artist Donita Simpson of local artists through the decades is now on display at Galerie Camille in Midtown.

Between the lines: Simpson, a local photographer who has had work shown in the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, aims to capture the creativity and true character of artists in her photos. The portraits were taken between 1989 and 2021.

"Through her lens, she examines the intimate relationship between artists, their studios and the creative space they share with the photographer," Galerie Camille says in a description of the exhibition, curated by Marta Carvajal.

If you go: The exhibition's run includes an artist talk tomorrow, 5-8pm, and a closing reception from 5-8pm on its last day, Jan. 25.

Visit Wednesday-Saturday, 12pm-5pm.
