Things to do in Metro Detroit this weekend: Nov. 22-24

It's the weekend before Thanksgiving — don't let the clouds and chilly weather get you down.

🎤 Do it for the periods! Attend a nonprofit event benefitting people who need menstrual products at The Loving Touch in Ferndale. Shop vendors and listen to poetry and live music, 5-11pm.

$10 to enter, or donate a menstrual product.

⛸️ It's a packed opening weekend for the ice skating rink at Campus Martius. The rink opens Saturday with a Grinch-themed skating party 12-4pm and an ugly holiday sweater party from 6-10pm. On Sunday, wear your holiday onesies or pajamas to skate, 12-4pm.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for kids. Skate rental is $6.

⏳ Be transported to a sci-fi realm 1,000 years in the future with an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) called "Portal Fire: Shrine of the Torchbearer."

MOCAD fall and winter exhibitions are opening with a reception Friday at 6pm. Free!
"Portal Fire" is on display this weekend through Feb. 23.

🕺 Let it all dance at the Russell Industrial Center with sets from DJs ACRAZE, Danny Avila and others.

Saturday, 9pm. $35.

🎄 Experience Winter at Michigan Central Station, a holiday season event series at the restored Corktown depot with live music, shopping, food and holiday decor.

Fridays 5-10pm ($10) and Saturdays 10am-6pm (free), now through Dec. 28.

📖 Watch a production of the classic novel "Little Women" in Northville.

Tickets are $25-$42. Showtimes are Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 2pm.

🎛️ Head to the Magic Stick to catch Morten, a Danish DJ known for collabs with Steve Aoki and David Guetta, plus "an impressive catalog of festival-quaking bangers," per DJ Mag.

Saturday, 9pm. $25.

🏺 Visit Pewabic Pottery's Holiday Showcase of ceramic art from more than 50 artists.

Now through Dec. 29. Hours are 10am-6pm Tuesday-Thursday, 10am-7pm Friday and Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday.
