Tigers beat Astros 5-2, advance to ALDS against Cleveland

The Tigers pulled off another magic act Wednesday, scoring four runs in the eighth inning for a series-ending, 5-2 win over the Houston Astros.

The big picture: In its first playoff appearance since 2014, Detroit advanced to the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians.

Game 1 of the best-of-five series is Saturday at 1:08pm at Progressive Field. TBS is broadcasting.
Game 3 on Wednesday will be at Comerica Park.

Zoom in: After Houston took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh, pinch hitter Andy Ibañez hit a double with the bases loaded to give Detroit the lead for good in the eighth.
