Mayor Mike Duggan recently visited California for a wine country vacation and tour of San Francisco's neighborhoods.
Why it matters: Before he left the West Coast, Duggan sat down for an interview with the San Francisco Standard, a 3-year-old Bay Area news company financed by venture capitalist and Democratic megadonor Michael Moritz.
Between the lines: While Duggan has been cagey with local media about his political future, the Standard detected a possible gubernatorial run in 2026.
The intrigue: Duggan has a way of turning on his affable Midwestern charm with reporters outside the local media.
The bottom line: Duggan comes off as a politician with eyes for a higher office.
