I'm obsessed with Yellow Light Coffee & Donuts in Jefferson Chalmers

👋 Annalise here. I'm pretty sure I've given a small fortune to Yellow Light doughnuts in Jefferson Chalmers.

  • My dog might like the drive-thru-only spot for coffee, fresh doughnuts and solid breakfast sandwiches even more than I do — the staff gives her a treat when she's in the car.

Dig in: Yellow Light, which opened in 2020, is my go-to for quick comfort breakfast food. If you know me, you may hear about it … often.

  • It has about a dozen daily doughnut flavors, plus a special flavor of the week. The best, hands-down, is brown butter plantain.

Yes, but: I believe the egg biscuit sandwich is the spot's real specialty. There's a variety of options, from simple egg and cheddar to sausage, fried chicken with maple glaze or pickles, biscuits and gravy or a divine soy sausage option with an herby aioli sauce.

  • The biscuit sandwiches are better than Red Hook's, in my opinion. The biscuits are fluffier and less overly dense, the sandwiches taste fresher and the ingredients meld together better.

What I'm watching: There's talk that Yellow Light plans to eventually open its building for walk-in service, which I'm crossing my fingers for.

  • I can confirm you may walk through the drive-thru, though.

If you go: Hours are 7am-2pm Monday-Friday and 8am-3pm Saturday-Sunday.

  • 14447 E. Jefferson Ave.
