Drake samples Detroit gospel singer on new album

The second track on Drake's new studio album, "For All the Dogs," contains music from Detroit's Thomas Whitfield and The Thomas Whitfield Company.

The intrigue: Part of the local group was Rudolph Stanfield Jr., who sang and played keys for the gospel choir that fused jazz and blues inside the church.

His name appears in the song credits for "Amen (ft. Teezo Touchdown)."
The song samples the Detroit choir's "Never Alone (Reprise)" from the 1986 album "I'm Encouraged."

What they're saying: "You know your pops is a certified GOAT when he gets sampled by Drake!" Byron Stanfield, Rudolph's son, posted on Facebook this month.
