When we told you Thursday about six luxury townhomes planned along Grand Avenue, one piece of the property had already disappeared for its development: this charming brick house at 3826 Grand Ave.

Behind the scenes: Developer and DSM City Councilperson Mike Simonson tells Axios he explored saving it before demolition, offering it to multiple house movers.

Yes, but: None wanted the job.

Its brick exterior, long footprint and three wings made it harder and costlier to move.

Stunning stat: Simonson's development company for the project paid $528,712 for the 2,259-square-foot house last year.

🌹 1 good thing to go: Habitat for Humanity salvaged the kitchen, windows and other materials before demolition.
