Des Moines landmarks will glow blue for 9/11

Des Moines-area landmarks will glow blue Thursday and Friday to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Why it matters: The tribute honors those killed on 9/11 and recognizes law enforcement officers who continue to serve their communities.

Driving the news: Polk County, Des Moines and other organizations will light several structures blue, including the Polk County Courthouse, Casey's Center, Women of Achievement Bridge, Ruan Tunnel and Second Avenue bridge.

The big picture: The effort is part of the #RememberTheSky campaign, which encourages reflection on the unity, resilience and hope that followed the attacks.
