Ask Axios: What's up with the covered signs across Des Moines?

Welcome to our regular "Ask Axios" series, where you ask us just about any question pertaining to the Des Moines metro.

Q: "I keep seeing new signs along First Street on Ankeny and along Beaver (and other roads) in Des Moines that are covered up by a white bag. Do you know what's going on?" — Jill Henson

A: DART is launching its redesigned bus route network on June 14, and the covered signs are for the new bus stops.

The new route has wider distances between the stops, which will mean longer walks between stops, but the buses can travel faster and cover more distance.
