The Urbandale City Council held a ceremony earlier this week to recognize Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31.

• The proclamation was dedicated by Ashley Campbell, the mother of Miles Phipps, an Urbandale High School student who died by suicide at 15 after facing relentless bullying last year.
• Trans Day of Visibility recognizes the transgender community, both for the accomplishments and oppressions they face.
