When you head back to the trails this spring, you'll find Des Moines' first-ever bridge park, over by the Southwest First Street bridge.
State of play: Before, the bridge was just a wide slab of concrete. But Des Moines Parks and Recreation installed new amenities, creating the Riverside Bridge Park.
Zoom in: The park includes an open-air shelter, green play mounds, and cement benches, so people can view the river and maybe even a bald eagle.
