Drake University's Greek Street would be honorarily named "Agha Street" under a request being considered by city leaders.
Catch up quick: Agha Noor Ahmed Khan was one of the last presidents of Drake's Phi Gamma Delta fraternity before it closed late last year.
- The closure came after the organization had difficulty retaining members, The Times-Delphic reports.
Zoom in: Greek Street runs along 34th Street between University and Forest avenues, where multiple fraternity or sorority houses are located.
- Khan made contributions to student safety, community cohesion, and civic responsibility within the corridor, according to a petition signed by 20 people.
What's next: The City Council will vote Monday on whether to refer the request to the Plan and Zoning Commission for further review.
Editor's note: The petition was pulled from the agenda on Monday after the school determined that most of the names were fraudulent.
