Matcha business owner combines passion for plants and tea

Green Finds Cafe, a mobile matcha pop-up business, is bringing the popular green tea beverage to events around Des Moines.

The big picture: The drink is finding its way to menus across the Des Moines metro, especially as some people seek a subtler caffeine buzz than coffee.

How it started: Owner Ronnoja Ayers started Green Finds Cafe as a way of combining her two favorite places: local cafes and her garden.

"Whenever I was sad or even if I was happy and I wanted to go somewhere to write or listen to music, those were the two places that I found myself going," Ayers tells Axios.
As she brainstormed where she could be every day without it feeling like work, she dreamed up owning her own matcha cafe.
While she doesn't have the means to open her own brick-and-mortar store yet, she opened a mobile pop-up cart to start.

The menu: She offers hot and iced matcha drinks with rotating seasonal flavors, including a winter-inspired salty maple matcha.

Later in the year, she'd also like to sell plants from her cart.
