Linh here. I tried out Waukee's latest Asian dessert shop, Mee Mochi off University Avenue.
The shop specializes in unique Asian treats, including mochi doughnuts, ice cream, sweet drinks and taiyaki — a fish-shaped waffle that can be filled.
What I tried: A matcha mochi doughnut ($3.25) and an ube ice cream with a taiyaki on top ($6.95).
💭 My thought bubble: These are worth a fun trip out west! The doughnut has an addictive, chewier consistency than a typical Krispy Kreme or Dunkin' doughnut.
While the ube ice cream tasted like your typical soft serve, the taiyaki added a sweet, crispy twist on top.
