Valley Junction Farmers Market returns with 37 new vendors

The Valley Junction Farmers Market starts Thursday, and there are unique additions this year.

Why it matters: The weekly market draws major crowds to the growing and diversifying business district.

State of play: This year's biggest addition is a dedicated kids zone in the 300 block.

Lil' Sprouts Play Patch includes free activities, including games, balloon animals and a goat petting zoo.
Paid activities include toy animal rides and face painting.

Plus: There are 37 new vendors, including Mulberry Farm and Food, Creme de la Crepe and Lavender and Honey Hills.

💭 Linh's thought bubble: Growing up in West Des Moines, the coolest thing to do during the farmers market was go to Atomic Garage and get a glass bottle of Coca-Cola.

Now, I love also stopping by La Michoacana Grocery at the end of the night for some tacos to bring home.

If you go: 100-300 blocks of 5th Street in Valley Junction every Thursday, 4-8pm.
