Ingersoll Dinner Theatre is back on track to open — complete with regular full-course meals and live shows five days a week.
Driving the news: Local developer Connor Delaney, and VenuWorks, an Ames-based venue management company, are restoring the space.
- A potential tenant backed out of the project, putting it on pause back in December 2023.
Catch up quick: Built in 1939, the venue operated as a movie house before transitioning to a dinner theater in 1978.
- It closed in 2004 and the vacant building has deteriorated since.
State of play: The venue plans to operate five nights a week with performances Wednesdays through Sundays, VenuWorks owner Steve Peters tells Axios.
- Show tickets, including dinner, are expected to be priced around $100. Seating arrangements will include tiered tables for better visibility, as well as balcony seating.
- Dinner service will feature a rotating menu by VenuWorks with entrees like sirloin, vegetable lasagna and Atlantic salmon.
- Performances will include comedy, tribute bands and more intimate performances.
Zoom in: Planned improvements include adding a modern kitchen, restoring the theater's marquee and adding lighting to the adjacent alley.
- They may also add a "Walk of Stars" on the sidewalk out front, Peters says.
Plus: There's already dedicated parking for the theater behind the nearby Financial Plus Credit Union.
What's next: Construction is set to wrap up in late October, and ticket sales are expected in the next 30–45 days.
- The venue is planned to open in November.
