Basic Bird offers dollar wing deal every Wednesday

Linh here. For the last several weeks, I've stopped by Basic Bird every Wednesday (including the week of the car crash) for their $1 wing special and my current favorite food — snow cheese wings.

What it is: Bone-in, double-fried chicken wings with a dry rub mixture of dehydrated cheese, garlic and onion powders.

Why I like it: These wings have the cheesy-powder addictiveness of a Cheeto, sans the styrofoam texture and orange glow under your finger nails.

• The wings are big, the breading is thick and the rub is a unique salty, cheesy mix.

Plus: I always order a side of the cabbage kimchi ($6), which is always fresh, deliciously fermented contrasting crunch to the wings.

• My tab is often under $15 for dinner.

If you go: The restaurant is still open for several more weeks before construction starts to fix the storefront.
