Des Moines Art Center pays $900,000 to settle Greenwood Pond lawsuit

• Miss condemned the removal of her installation, "Greenwood Pond: Double Site," and said the art center did not have permission to remove her work.
• The art center contended it would have cost $2.6 million to fix the installation, which has deteriorated due to outdoor conditions and its vicinity to water since opening in 1996.

What's next: The Cultural Landscape Foundation, which advocated on behalf of Miss, now has plans to create a Public Art Advocacy Fund. Miss says she's donating a portion of the settlement toward the fund as its inaugural donor.
