An underground bar is planned for Highland Park

• The building was more recently home to a balloon artist and antique shop, the Register reports.

Details: The basement bar's aesthetics will feature wood and moody colors — a nod to the 1960s and '70s, when the space was the lower level of the department store.

• Expect detailed craft cocktails, as well as fondue and light foods.
• They'll also have space for live performances and entertainment. The space can seat 50 people or 80 standing.

The big picture: Beyond the basement, the rest of the building is also being renovated for potential tenants, including commercial space on the main level and apartments above that, the Business Record reports.

What's next: Highland Underground goes before the Zoning Board of Adjustment on Dec. 18.

• An opening day is scheduled for next summer.
