Des Moines local businesses celebrate Black Friday, Small Business Saturday

Celebrate Des Moines' local businesses during special shopping events this weekend, from Black Friday to Small Business Saturday.

Why it matters: Des Moines is filled with creatives, entrepreneurs, and artisans — supporting them not only boosts the local economy, but it's also more fun than elbowing people at Target.

🎄Valley Junction stores are hosting events all weekend, including "Plaid Friday, "Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday deals.

🎺 RAYGUN is holding "Miracle on E. 5th Street," a Black Friday event featuring local high school band performances, shopping and hot chocolate.

The East Village is also hosting its weekly Holiday Promenade on Friday from 5-8pm.

🎁 Mainframe Studios is celebrating local artists during its holiday art market on Saturday from noon to 4pm.

🛍️ Val Air Ballroom's first-ever holiday fair is Saturday featuring handmade and vintage vendors from 11am-6pm.

🔨 And instead of buying new, repair something old at the Franklin Avenue Library's Repair Cafe on Sunday from noon to 3:30pm.
