Des Moines gets new hangout for "burned-out millennial adults"

Glitter Factory — a new makerspace and DIY project bar — is now open in downtown Des Moines.
Why it matters: The business is for "burned-out millennial adults," who need a hangout space, owner Britney Brown tells Axios.
- She markets it as "Made by ADHD brains for ADHD brains."
How it started: Brown runs the popular social media account, "Imperfect Inspiration," where she talks about her ADHD and raising five kids and offers resources for others who are neurodivergent.
State of play: Now, she's opening a storefront for adults like herself who want to get out, do something with their hands and focus on everything fun and colorful.
- "A lot of the things I hear from people are, 'How the heck do I make friends as an adult?'" Brown says. "There is a space for that."
How it works: For a $20 flat fee people can come downtown to make whatever they want at the craft stations, ranging from needle felting and creating diamond art to making epoxy keychains.
- There are also classes every week, including an adults-only craft night.
Plus: For those who want to stay home, Brown also sells a $25 monthly subscription box, "Blind Date with a Hobby," which includes an activity to "hyperfixate" on with video tutorials.
