Jordan Creek Halloween pop-up restaurant and bar opens in West Des Moines

If you're feeling creepy crawly this month, stop by "Nightmare at Jordan Creek" — the mall's newest Halloween pop-up experience.
Driving the news: The owners of The Station on Ingersoll opened the "elegant and spooky" space Tuesday night at the former Champs location near Century Theater.
- The decked-out restaurant and bar features some of The Station's most popular foods, as well as specialty Halloween cocktails and mocktails.
How it started: For years, The Station has hosted popular seasonal pop-ups, co-owner T.J. Rushing, tells Axios.
- After noticing a lack of similar experiences in the suburbs, Rushing says they decided to test the concept out, starting with Jordan Creek mall, he says.
State of play: The new pop-up features moody purple lighting and family-friendly decor that is less scary than the Ingersoll location, Rushing says.
- Food includes appetizers like crab rangoon nachos, cheese curds and pickle fries, as well as wing baskets and desserts.
- Specialty drinks have Halloween twists, like "Carrie's Blood Bag" — a vodka drink served in a bag and "Dracula's Dinner," a Shirley Temple served with fake teeth.
The big picture: The Halloween pop-up is a part of The Station's grander plans to host a grandiose Christmas pop-up, "Miracle at Jordan Creek" starting Nov. 18 through Dec. 31.
- While the Halloween pop up is around 1,500 square feet, the Christmas experience will take up the whole restaurant space — around 7,000 square feet, Rushing says.
If you go: Hours are 4-11pm, Mon-Thurs; 4pm to midnight, Fri; 11am-midnight, Sat; and 11am to 11pm Sun.
