I had a delicious dinner at a fancier restaurant off Ingersoll the other day, but I must admit, I left still hungry.
Driving the news: Step in, Big Tomato Pizza and their $4 slices.
What it is: A slice of honey garlic pizza ($4) with Alfredo sauce, fresh chunks of garlic and a brush of honey over melted white cheese.
What I liked: Their signature flavor is known citywide for a reason. The garlic has a little bite to it, but it's balanced with the slightly sweet honey that packs it with flavor.
I'm usually a heavy-topping kind of gal. But this simple duo is just enough.
The intrigue: The restaurant brags about its "lousy service," but I have to say something blasphemous — the woman at the counter was quite nice.
If you go: 11am-3am Monday-Saturday; 2pm-3am Sundays; 2613 Ingersoll Ave, Des Moines.
