1 flying thing to go: Urbandale's new flag

Urbandale City Council adopted a new flag last night.

Catch up fast: The council voted in October to revamp its longtime flag and asked citizens for ideas.

• More than 440 were submitted. The final design came from top selections and feedback from a city survey.

Zoom in: The light blue and white U's represent stability and peace.

• The star against the blue sky represents a firework from the city's Independence Day celebration, city officials said in a statement.
