Putts & Pins, a new tech-infused mini golf and duckpin bowling venue, opened this week in West Des Moines.

Driving the news: It's the first location for the "gamified" miniature golf facility at Jordan Creek Point, a new strip mall development north of Dillard's.

State of play: The '80s and '90s pop-rock inspired venue offers a full American food and drink menu, plus an arcade.

How it works: Players can ditch their papers and pencils and instead scan in their putters to keep track of their scores and time, general manager James Carter tells Axios.

Zoom in: The venue's two separate 9-hole courses track players' balls and give points for trick shots and speed before making it into the hole. Up to 8 people can play in a group.

  • It costs $12 for 9 holes or $22 for 18 holes per player.
  • Duckpin bowling is also available at $25 for 30 minutes or $45 an hour for a group.

The intrigue: The food menu features throwback themes like "Walkman Wings," "Shake n' Bake Chicken Sandwich" and "Not Your Dorm Room Ramen."

  • Plus, there's a private event space available to rent with its own six holes, two bowling lanes and bar space.

If you visit: Putts & Pins is at 6920 EP True Pkwy., #105.

  • Its soft opening hours are 3pm-10pm daily, but Carter says that it's expected to expand to 11am-11pm in December, with a grand opening in January.
