Des Moines is resurrecting an effort to ban urban roosters because of ongoing noise complaints.
Flashback: An effort in 2018 was derailed by urban farmers who packed City Hall to speak in favor of their feathered friends.
- Council members agreed to relaunch the effort Monday. A formal proposal is expected in coming weeks.
"It was the voices of the minority [in 2018] because I can tell you that the residents that live in Ward 2 that I hear from are real tired of hearing roosters day and night," Councilperson Linda Westergaard said during a council workshop.
