1-minute voter guide: Michael Allen vs. Jena Griswold in Colorado's AG race

The big picture: The AG runs a roughly 650-person agency that prosecutes criminal networks, investigates consumer fraud and defends state laws.

• Outgoing Democrat Phil Weiser has sued the Trump administration more than 80 times.

Meet the candidates:

Republican Michael Allen, a career prosecutor and El Paso and Teller counties DA since 2021, prioritizes penalizing crime and fraud.

• He argues many of Weiser's lawsuits are politically motivated and would seek to drop those he believes lack merit.

Democrat Jena Griswold, Colorado's secretary of state since 2019, wants to continue Weiser's legal battles against Trump.

• She also plans to expand the office to crack down on corporate abuses, including wage theft and workplace safety violations.

The other side: Both candidates have drawn fire.

• Griswold has faced attacks over repeated election-office errors, her lack of courtroom experience and allegations of fostering a toxic workplace.
• Allen has taken heat for opposing Colorado's red-flag law and praising an ICE agent's "trigger discipline" after fatally shooting Renee Good in January.
