The public is getting a detailed look at how Denver residents and officials envision the area around the Denver Broncos' preferred stadium site at Burnham Yard.
Why it matters: The draft plan outlines how development and infrastructure around the sprawling project could benefit the people who live and work nearby.
State of play: The plan, released Wednesday by the city planning department, has more than 30 recommendations, including:
- Affordable on-site housing with a mix of unit types
- Supporting local businesses through job training and affordable commercial space
- Honoring local Chicano and American Indian communities through public space designs
- Improving access to transit and trails, including new transit options
How it works: The plan would guide development of the 58-acre decommissioned rail yard and surrounding area.
- It would set the policies for future zoning, codes and development, city planning spokesperson Amanda Foster tells us.
What they're saying: Preventing displacement, protecting local businesses and managing traffic are among neighbors' top priorities, Councilmember Flor Alvidrez said in a statement.
- "We are pleased to see this part of the city's process progressing forward," the Broncos said in a statement.
- "There are still a number of details to be determined and decisions to be made in order to bring this shared vision for Burnham Yard to reality."
Between the lines: The city is seeking public feedback online through Oct. 28.
- Hard copies of the draft plan are available at La Alma Recreation Center and John "Thunderbird Man" Emhoolah Jr. Branch Library.
What's next: The Denver Planning Board will review the draft later this year and vote in early 2027.
