Michelin goes statewide, but its stars don't

Colorado now boasts 10 Michelin-starred restaurants, after chef Johnny Curiel's Milpero in Denver became the latest to earn a coveted star, the state tourism office announced Monday.
Why it matters: The first Michelin guide to span the entire state added 15 restaurants — but no new stars outside the guide's previous geographic footprint.
Context: Nine restaurants kept one star, while The Wolf's Tailor in Denver remains Colorado's only two-star restaurant.
State of play: The expanded guide now includes restaurants in Aurora, Colorado Springs and Telluride, with 63 restaurants spanning 22 cuisines, per Michelin.
Between the lines: Two Aurora restaurants earned recognition in the city's first appearance in the guide.
- James Beard Award-winning chef Caroline Glover's Annette earned a Bib Gourmand, Michelin's designation for quality food at a good value.
- Dân Dã earned a recommendation.
Also new: Bib Gourmand additions include Pig and Tiger (Denver) and Rougarou (Denver).
Michelin added 11 restaurants to its recommended list.

Michelin also handed out four special awards:
- Exceptional cocktail service: Kyle McNerney, Four by Brother Luck
- Sommelier award: Theo Adley and Jenessa Reiman at Heretík
- Outstanding service award: Joseph Freyre, The Penrose Room
- Young Chef/Culinary Professional Award: Cameron Baker, Radicato
