Colorado AG primary remains tight after party assembly

State of play: Jena Griswold, current secretary of state, earned the most support at the assembly, taking 41.8% of the delegate vote. Rival David Seligman, a progressive attorney, finished a close second at 40.6%.

• Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty received 18% support. He can still qualify via petitions with voter signatures.
• Hetal Doshi, a former federal prosecutor, did not participate in the assembly and will seek to qualify with petitions.

Inside the room: Griswold and Seligman drew the loudest applause from the delegates as both outlined a hard-left agenda.

• In her speech, Griswold courted progressive delegates and labor unions by promising to support a strong assault weapons ban, push for tougher worker protections and prosecute ICE if they break state law.
• Seligman, director of Forward Justice, a consumer-minded nonprofit, listed all the courtroom battles he won against corporations and individuals with power, promising to hold ICE officials accountable and "[fight[ for a better world."

Reality check: Winning the party assembly reflects support from party activists and not the entire voting population, meaning it's not a guarantee for victory in the primary election.
