Broncos legend Peyton Manning joins Denver NWSL's ownership team

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is jumping aboard the ownership group for the city's new professional women's soccer team.

The big picture: Manning, who led the Broncos to a Super Bowl victory in 2015 and now operates a media business, Omaha Productions, is the latest high-profile co-owner of the yet-to-be-named club, which announced his addition Tuesday.

Mikaela Shiffrin joined the NWSL's ownership team last month.

State of play: Manning becomes part of an ownership team that includes Rob Cohen of IMA Financial Group and a separate venture led led by businesswoman Mellody Hobson, who's part of the Denver Broncos ownership team.

What they're saying: "I'm proud to support the growth of women's sports and excited to help build a club that our city and our state can rally behind," Manning said in a statement.

What's next: The women's pro team aims to debut during the 2026 NWSL season.

Its ownership team last month secured $70 million to help buy and prepare land to build a soccer-specific women's stadium and entertainment district in the city.
