Colorado landed 14 people on the annual Forbes list of the world's richest billionaires.
By the numbers: Most billionaires on the list have become more wealthy in the past year.
- At the top is conservative media and entertainment mogul Philip Anschutz with a net worth of $16.9 billion, an increase from 2024's list.
- He is followed by John Malone at $10.8 billion. Malone amassed his wealth in the cable TV market and sits on a number of prominent company boards.
- Colorado venture capitalist Mark Steves landed at third with a net worth of $8 billion.
Caveat: The state's list doesn't include a number of local power players — such as members of the Walton family — because they list their primary residence outside Colorado.
The intrigue: While Anschutz's $16.9 billion is a lot, it's nothing compared to the top 10 billionaires in the world.
- The richest title belongs to Elon Musk, who is worth $342 billion.
- Anschutz ranked No. 122.
