Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials confirmed a video posted on Instagram showing three wolf pups and their mother playing on a road at an undisclosed location in the state.
The intrigue: Mike Usalavage posted the video Aug. 17 and a second Monday in which the wolves appear unaware they are being watched from a car further down the road.
State of play: The pups weigh about 40 to 50 pounds, officials said, and are part of the Copper Creek pack reintroduced in Colorado.
In the video, they play in a puddle and romp through an Aspen grove like puppies.
What they're saying: State officials used the moment to issue a caution to viewers.
"It's important to remember, that if you live or recreate in the foothills or mountains of Colorado, you are in wolf country. Wolves are wild animals and should be treated with the same respect as any other wild animal," the agency posted.
