We've told you before about the app that works like Airbnb for pools. Now allow us to introduce the "Airbnb for boats."

Why it matters: Colorado offers some of the most scenic lakes in the country, including Blue Mesa Reservoir and Lake Granby. Having access to a boat lets you enjoy the water's beauty to the fullest.

How it works: GetMyBoat is a company that lets owners rent out their watercraft — including Jet Skis, kayaks and paddleboards — in roughly 9,400 locations around the world.

Zoom in: In Colorado, the site has dozens of rental locations, from Durango to Fort Collins and more. Prices range from $8 an hour for an inflatable kayak to $975 a day for a powerboat.

  • State law allows anyone aged 16 and up to operate a boat or watercraft without a license on public waters. But some boat owners offer captains upon request.

Of note: Owners who want to list their vessels should make sure they're up to code and insured.
